InMoov is a life-size humanoid robot: a robot shaped like a person, with a head, arms and hands, built at the size of a real adult. It is an open-source project, which means its designs are shared freely so anyone can download them, build them and improve them.
Almost all of its parts are 3D-printed: a 3D printer builds each plastic part layer by layer from a design file. InMoov's parts are designed to fit a small home 3D printer with a print area of 12 × 12 × 12 cm, so the robot is printed in many small pieces and then assembled. The project started in 2012 as an open-source robotic hand and grew into a whole robot. It is meant as a platform for makers, schools and laboratories to build on and experiment with.[1]
